I wish to know because i need to install 'phpnews' and step 3 says:

If you do not have access to a control panel, you will need to SSH in to the Linux server. If you're not sure how to SSH, see this article:

My file permissions suddenly changed on my other hard drive. Now I have to individually change them all back.?
I just received this Acer M1100 computer and hooked up my old hard drive to copy music files. I accessed them no problem and played them no problem. 2 minutes later I can't play them anymore or even copy to the new computer. What the hell is going on? I don't have permission on any of them. Two Hard Drives: 1 For O/S, 1 For Files/Programs?
I'm formatting my hard drive and reinstalling Vista. However, I have another 40GB hard drive lying around and I would like to install Vista on that hard drive, and have all programs and files installed to my other hard drive. I just want to do this so I can, and can easily install/reinstall O/S's without deleting all my files, hopefully, and to have extra space, since I'm finally running out.
Anyways, how do I go about having all of my main folders such as Administrator(documents,music,pictures), Program Files, and the sort be on the second hard drive making that drive default?
I've tried once before on a laptop with XP w/ a 5GB partition for the O/S, but when I try to install something, it would say that there is not enough space since it is trying to install to the O/S partition, but this time w/ 2 separate HDDs. Would I have to change the directory of programs every time I install something to the second hard drive? Now go to Disk Management again and rename the second disk folder as 'Program Files'. Now you have two disks one holding all your files except ';Program Files';. Another disk doesn't have drive but mounted on ';Program Files';

I don't know if it's possible to move the Documents, Pictures, etc. defaults because those reside in the account name folder on the Users folder on the OS drive and are a Windows feature. You can, however, make your own folders on the storage drive and just put your files there yourself, and place shortcuts to those folders wherever necessary.
When installing programs, in most cases, you can change the default directory to a different one. What I've done and what you can do is make another Program Files folder on the storage drive and install various programs there instead.
What you are looking to do is a great idea. There are 3 aspects to your question:
1) Running out of space on the windows drive
Your solution of having a dedicated drive for windows will probably help as long as you have enough space left after installing windows.
2) Files such as your documents, music, pictures on the second drive should also work in case you need to reinstall your os.
3) Programs need to be reinstalled: Using the second drive for program files will help saving on the disk space on the os drive. But, if you need to install a different OS it may not save you the trouble of reinstalling all the software since software more likely than not do things such as copy files to your windows folder, write registry entries. These things will be wiped away when you reinstall the OS and you will probably need to reinstall the software. I say this about any reasonably complicated software and not simple stuff which may only need a few files to run.

I don't know if it's possible to move the Documents, Pictures, etc. defaults because those reside in the account name folder on the Users folder on the OS drive and are a Windows feature. You can, however, make your own folders on the storage drive and just put your files there yourself, and place shortcuts to those folders wherever necessary.
When installing programs, in most cases, you can change the default directory to a different one. What I've done and what you can do is make another Program Files folder on the storage drive and install various programs there instead.
What you are looking to do is a great idea. There are 3 aspects to your question:
1) Running out of space on the windows drive
Your solution of having a dedicated drive for windows will probably help as long as you have enough space left after installing windows.
2) Files such as your documents, music, pictures on the second drive should also work in case you need to reinstall your os.
3) Programs need to be reinstalled: Using the second drive for program files will help saving on the disk space on the os drive. But, if you need to install a different OS it may not save you the trouble of reinstalling all the software since software more likely than not do things such as copy files to your windows folder, write registry entries. These things will be wiped away when you reinstall the OS and you will probably need to reinstall the software. I say this about any reasonably complicated software and not simple stuff which may only need a few files to run.
Command Prompt disappeared; help?
I'm trying to do some C++ for a class next year with, but vista's command prompt is missing (?!?). Clicking on the shortcut icon tells you its unavailable. I'd use the Visual Studios C++ command prompt instead (I just got the free, express version, not the whole thing), but it automatically sends you to programfiles/visualstudio, and my computer won't let me put files in there (It says I don't have permission, but I'm the administrator). How the heck do you load a game on DOSbox??? I've tried following directions that look like this:
DOSBox will give you a text prompt where you enter commands.

3. i assume youre running ubuntu, and if youre not then you can specify, but in ubuntu thats installed out of the box (openGL)
4. the password is hidden, just type it in and hit enter
5. are you using kde or gnome? (gnome has applications, places, and system on the top left) thats for kde only, if youre using gnome, try gdesklets

This was due to the 640KB barrier....

I need help creating a batch file in DOS for one of my classes. I have watched tutorials and asked my classmates and I still can't figure it out. This is what is required:

So, having said that to change a directory in DOS, or cmd..and its simple, yes but effective just type ';CD'; (change directory) and then hit the ';period'; key. '.' so it would or should look like this C:\documents\my_pictures\photos_1996 to this C:\My_documents\My_pictures\ thats only if you typed one (1) period after the CD. if you hit two periods (2) after the CD then it will go back to C:\My_documents, do it again it will go to the c drive all together. Common inbox on 2 computers in Windows Mail?
I am using Windows Vista and it came with Windows Mail. (not live mail online) We then got another laptop also with windows mail but when i receive the email on one computer, i can't see it on the other. That is ok, because it is saving it to the computer and not the account.
What I want to do is have a common inbox throughout both laptops. We have a network hard drive and I want to change the store directory to somewhere there. However, when i try to change the directory, i can't click ok because it is greyed out.

There's a simple setting in Windows Mail that can handle that for you. We use this all the time in business situations where a user has a desktop and a laptop and wants to use the same address and get the same email whether they're on the road or in the office.
Go to Tools/Accounts and then select the account you want to work with. Click the Properties button.
On the Advanced tab the last control says ';Delivery';, check the box that says 'Leave a copy on the server', and check the box that says 'Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items';.
That will leave a copy on the email server for the other machine to pick up and it will delete any mail that you delete in Windows Mail.
It's a good idea to set a span of 30 days or what ever is the most time that you think will pass between both machines doing a mail check to synchronize the mail download. In other words, set the 'Remove from server after ____ day(s)' to enough time that you will be sure to have checked the email on both machines. That way the old mail won't pile up on the server past a certain period but you'll still have downloaded it all to Windows Mail.

You have to do this in 2 places, first make sure you have access to the database that holds all the configurations. When you login to the database look at the table phpbb3_config find the value in that database that corresponds with the directory. Update that value. Now rename the directory name to the updated value.

hello I am a novice in php, I have built a couple of sites on my local host. My php page all have a single include in on all of them (left_nav-right_nav etc...) to make it easy for site wide link exchanges and what not. What if I wanted to have a directory of php pages lets say all the pages had to do with one thing. I would like to have them in a lower diectory, how can you still have includes in the lower directory without changing the link codes ../ etc...Php pages (root directory)?
Since you're using a programming language, you're not really limited to using the include function in this way. This, at it's root, is the difference between just using templates, and a full-blown web application. A specific example will make things more clear.
Say you had files called header.php, navbar.php, and footer.php and they all appear on each page. The natural tendancy is to then include those files on other pages where you need them. My normal recommendation to students and trainees is to do exactly the opposite. Put all those components on ONE page, in ONE place, and then call the script you need in a VARIABLE in your include file. For example, let's say you had an ';index.php'; file, that looks something like this...
