How do I change the Company Directory recording on a Samsung iDCS 18D phone?

Our company switched phone systems over to the Samsung OfficeServ back in '08 when we moved. Back then, our admin recorded a day greeting, night greeting, along with instructions for Spanish callers and a company directory.

However, no changes have been made to these recordings since '08, which means that a lot of the people who are named on those recordings have either left the company or changed extensions.

I've looked up online and read through all the manual and instructions for the Samsung phone and for the OfficeServ database system. Unfortunately the only thing I've found are instructions on how to change the day and night recordings - nothing on how to change the Company Directory.

Any suggestions? How do I change the Company Directory recording on a Samsung iDCS 18D phone?
The Samsung iDCS 18D is the typical deskset for the newer iDCS phone systems. This phone is sometimes referred to as being in the ';Falcon'; series. The iDCS 18D is an 18 button digital phone intended for use with all Samsung DCS and iDCS phone systems.

I've tried to ';change the directory on the 'Files' section on the menu to whatever directory you wish to save your downloads.';

The save directory change will only work for new downloads.

As to moving the existing files, stop the torrent and right-click%26gt;Advanced%26gt;Files%26gt; Move Data Files and browse to you new location. Azureus will show a small screen indicating the transfer and when that is gone, restart the torrent and it should work. How to change file save path on azureus vuze?
if you havent started the download, then when you add it there should be an option asking where you wish to save, just navigate to the d drive and hit okay

How to install a CD using Command promt or run menu in windows?

Hello, i' ve just got a CD/DVD, the installation instruction says:';Open ';Command Prompt'; or ';Run'; and change the directory to where CD-ROM/DVD-ROM is located, i.e. D:\

To run each PART, copy and paste the following directory and then, hit enter.

You can also copy all of the files to the HD and run the above instruction.

So i have a hard time understanding and installing this cd/dvd, please help. How to install a CD using Command promt or run menu in windows?
after inserting your cd you open the command prompt and the type D: and go to you cd/dvd drive then by dir command you check the list of file where try to find a exe file which name is like setup or install when you find the file type the file name in the command prompt and press enter your cd installation is start.

but if your cd/dvd driver need some extra supporting file which are create in the same directory then this file is not create in the cd/dvd because it is not write in this. Due to this reason I think the following instruction is give in your cd/dvd driver. How to install a CD using Command promt or run menu in windows?
sometimes when you put a program cd in, the cd will not start automatically. most of the time they do. open the command prompt and then change the path to the cd. like you will be at c: when you start, type cd e: if e is your cd rom. when the prompt says e: type dir and look for an exe file. the exe file will be the extension of a excuteable file like install.exe or setup.exe. when you find the file just type the name of the file and it will start for you.

  • Directory to save pictures...?

ok i have been looking for this hours with no luck and so i want to see how good are you people! just kidding...i manage to find out how to change the directory when you click ';save target as'; from the registry and was successful. now i cant find the one for ';save picture as'; or sometimes called ';save image as'; where is it in the registry!Directory to save pictures...?
Since you were successful in editing the registry before, obviously you know enough about it that you're not going to kill your computer. Replace My Pictures in the following 2 registry enties with the desired folder name.

NOTE: I had to change the slashes to spaces in order for this to display correctly. Where there is supposed to be an actual spaces is *

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion

    Explorer Shell*Folders My*Pictures

HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Explorer User*Shell*Folders My*PicturesDirectory to save pictures...?
Do not look in the registry for this. Making changes in the registry can kill your pc if you don't know what you are doing. In the ';My Documents'; folder there is a folder called ';My Pictures';. This is where you should put your pictures unless you create another folder.

How can i change the (default) program install drive from C: to D:?

my harddrive is partitioned into C: and D:. C: has just the OS, D: is where i stash all of my programs and files etc. alot of times i will run into an installation that WONT give me the option to change the directory to install to. it automatically tries to stuff its 500+MB self into the C: drive (which only has a measley 100MB free space) and it fails.

now if there was an option to change that default path from crowded C:, to the vast welcoming plains of D:, there wouldnt be a ****ing problem. now i've once had someone type up something in the ';Run..'; and have a simple window appear. he simply pressed a few buttons and all is well. problem is the pc went thru system recovery and the guy forgot what it was he typed in.

i hear others suggest downloading a ';tweakUI';, but i dont remember that necessary, i hear others have a hard time with it as well. so if you KNOW of THE way. please. help out. if not, dont bother with an asinine reply just to boost to your ';top contributor'; count. How can i change the (default) program install drive from C: to D:?
You can't unfortunately. It automatically sets the default to the disk that contains the windows files. You can however normally change the destination of where the program installsHow can i change the (default) program install drive from C: to D:?
it looks like you didnt read the bulk of the message. just saw the header and jumped right in, slapped on a rediculous ';answer'; and collected your points.

if you did read what i typed up, you would have learned that YES there IS a way to change it. ive experienced it myself. and NO you cant always change the directory/path/drive youd like the installer to install to. TRUST ME. there ARE some programs that DONT let you chose. you also missed the part about not answering if you dont know the answer.

How do I get two cisco 7940 phones to ring simultaneously without using a shared line?

I have a person that works in two separate offices as a manager. Each office is in a separate location, dev pool, partition...etc, and each has a different directory number. The current manager will switch locations on a regular basis and wants to have it so it doesn't matter if one or the other line is called, it will ring in either office. Presumably, a new person will soon be hired to take over as manager in one or the other office, so I don't want to implement sharing the lines between offices, because although that might be the easiest solution, it's not good to have lines from different partitions appearing all over the network on devices in other partitions...it could quickly become a mess.

So, I'd just like to have both numbers ring at the same time when one or the other is called. I was looking at line groups and hunt lists, but don't want to create a new hunt pilot number that people have to remember to call, or they'd have to change the directory listing. How do I get two cisco 7940 phones to ring simultaneously without using a shared line?
What you need to do is click on the Menu button and select Other then click on the Extra features menu and go down to Simultaneous Ring. Fill in the appropriate info and there you go.

What impact does changing the Program Files directory have on installed apps in XP?

    Hi.

I recently found a way to change the directory location of the Program Files folder (and also the Common Files folder) to a different place on the disk (or a different disk altogether), but from all of the articles I have found on the web that explain how to do this, they all seem to be saying how to change the directory BEFORE having installed any apps. I have around 2GB of applications, and I want to change the directory to a different disk. Will this change of location have a bad impact on my apps that I have already installed? (Obviously I am going to move these applications across to the new location).

My plan was to change the registry, restart my PC, then just drag and drop the apps into the new location on my D: drive. I need to do this because my C: drive doesn't have enough space left to defrag the paging file. Will this method work?

Thanks to everyone who offers an opinion in an advance.

Source: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/1137/What impact does changing the Program Files directory have on installed apps in XP?
That tool only changes the default for installing an application. You would need to change all the other registry values for the programs you already have installed.

I would recommend uninstalling the old applications and reinstalling the applications after the change.

How do I edit Boot.ini properly?

    I installed Windows a non-traditional way, I will explain:

My notebook has no CD/DVD functionality, I had to use a floppy to boot into MS-DOS (the only floppy i had kept failing to write over and over so I had to repair it with flobo about 9 times) So once I finally booted success with A:\ I did fdisk, now my hard drive has two partitions one is 2.5GB and the other is 25GB roughly.

I made partition 1 (2.5GB) active and format it as C: with system files for emergencies (I do not want to use a floppy again, I would rather boot dos from partition 1) then I reboot and removed the floppy.

C: drive booted into DOS from here I had already pre-loaded the WindowsXP files off of my CD onto partition 2 from another machine at an earlier time.

So I ran smartdrv.exe then changed directory to the winxp folder and went into i386 proceeding to run winnt, installing Windows XP to partition 2 (25GB) so I have DOS on partition 1, XP on partition 2. If XP fails I would like DOS to still be bootable, the Boot.ini is on partition 1 (2.5GB)

here is what i did, but this crashes and reboots when I select the DOS option.

    [boot loader]

    timeout=30

    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partiti?br>
    [operating systems]

    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\=';?/noexecute=optin /fastdetect

    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WI?Windows XP Professional'; /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

This is not working, any ideas? I assume \=DOS means the root of C:\ is where the boot files are, is this incorrect? Thanks! How do I edit Boot.ini properly?

Installing Software in Ubuntu (including tar.gz and tar.bz2 files)

LUg.How can I install software to Ubuntu Linux System from .gz2?
Why are you even trying to do this? the Ubuntu repositories have everything you need. In fact, whatever it is you're trying to install is probably already there. All you have to do is search the repositories and install it.

Without more information about what you're trying to do, can't help much.

By the way, a gz2 file is just something compressed with gzip.
Are you sure that you don't mean .bz2?

You should only use this method of installing software in ubuntu if it is not available in the repository via synaptic. This way can install files that might conflict with files that you currently have installed and cause numerous stability problems for your whole system. If you start getting all kinds of errors when running other programs after using this method you should remove all those .bz2 files.

    Good luck

How do I change to the Unit01 directory using a DOS prompt?

    c: %26lt;enter%26gt;

    cd unit01%26lt;enter%26gt;

dirHow do I change to the Unit01 directory using a DOS prompt?
    cd unit01

sirry should have given you full instructions. Start --%26gt; run--%26gt; type cmd. Hte you are in a DSO prompt. They type cd unit01 and you should be in that directory
if you have not been able to change directory yet:

you have to know where the Unit01 directory is. It may or may not be at the root. The directory structure in DOS is a hierarchical tree sturcture. If unit01 is at the root level then ';cd \unit01'; would work. The ';\'; signifies the root. But if the directory is a sub-directory. e.g. it could be under the lessons directory and you would need to say ';cd \lessons\unit01'; to get there.
Well, as it has been said above, you need to know where it is. If you don't, and assuming you are working in a real DOS prompt environment, then you can use ';dir C:\*.* /s/b/p'; to find every file and directory on C: drive. They will scroll to fill the screen, then pause automatically until you hit a key. Once you've found it's location, use ';cd ..'; to move up one directory level at a time until you're at the root level and the prompt shows ';C:\%26gt;'; or something close to that. Then simply type in ';cd C:\[pathtodir]\[diryouneed]'; and it should take you there. I hope this helps you out.

    Change installshield temp directory?

No matter where I install it says I need more space on my C drive, I like to know how to change this because I have plenty of space on D and E. Any clues?Change installshield temp directory?
1st it sounds like you are using 3 hard drives, its ok.

if that is the case, transfer your largest files to your other hard drive.

that will free up space for you.

what you should have done to begin with,is when you download send it to your slave drive and open it there.next you should create a shortcut to your desktop or wherever you want it.

that is how you keep the master drive optimal with a low use of memory and clutter.Change installshield temp directory?
InstallShield should be following the Environment Variable ';TEMP'; to get the temp directory path. To check or edit your TEMP environment Variable:

    1) Right click My Computer, select Properties

    2) This step will be a little different depending on which version of windows you have. Look for ';Advanced System Settings'; or a tab marked ';Advanced';

    3) Click Environment Variables...

    4) Change the TEMP environment variables to a location with more space. You may have entries both in the user variable area and in the system variable area.
Set your temp directory - in your environment - to D:\temp (and make the directory on the D drive).

But you still need space on the C drive to install programs - the registry can't be moved, and programs install to the registry (that's what ';install'; means, it's not just copying files).

During normal usage, a Linux OS runs under runlevels between 2 and 5 which corresponds to various multi-user modes. How do I make A DOS boot partition?

I have a notebook which has no floppy drive, it has no CD drive as it recently burned out. Here is what I would like to do.

Place DOS Boot files on first partition (size 3GB)

Place Win98 Folder (ripped from my 98 disc) into this 3GB Partition

format the rest of the drive to FAT32

I would like to boot into MS-DOS from the 3GB partition, Change directory to Win98 and use Setup.exe to install 98 to the second partition.

This is not happening for some reason, I do not know why. Here is what I have done:

I connect the notebook hard disk to my PC via hard drive adapter,

Downloaded Win98 boot floppy image from bootdisk.com, extracted then mounted the image file and copied all the files onto the 3GB partition. I put the notebook's hard drive back into the notebook and reboot, this should have booted off these files but instead it said hard disk has invalid boot sectors.

I then figured I would use a HEX editor (HXD) and copy the sectors from the floppy boot image to the first partition, after doing so the first partition was decreased in size to the size of a floppy, it contained the boot files and yet, still would not boot.

All of these things should work, but do not. I do not understand, how do i get this to work without floppy or cd?

Please do not say, buy a new *hardware name here* I do not have the money. It would be the best option no doubt, but in these circumstances I must do with what I have.

Please let me know why these sectors are not working and how to make them work. Thanks!!How do I make A DOS boot partition?
You should not have to fiddle around with a Hex editor - that will likely just get you into trouble. The main thing is, to make sure you have a bootable DOS partition and your BIOS directs the computer to boot from that partition. For more information on the boot process, check http://www.storagereview.com/guide2000/r

Chances are, you simply didn't have a bootable DOS partition or the BIOS was not set to boot from that partition. Otherwise your process (copying the boot floppy image) appears to be sound. Another topic to investigate later: Google ';virtual Floppy'; That might not be of use now but could help later. Check

    http://www.freewarereview.info/2006-03/v

Another option: borrow a USB stick / thumb drive from a friend, load your boot floppy on the USB stick and boot from that.

Try running the shell scripts on the command-line on your own machine. That may help you catch the errors more quickly.

  • How can i modify my default PDF viewer in regard to browsing internet documents? currently set to acrobat?

ive looked through google and so far the solutions i have read havent been working. currently IE7 is unable to open any PDF documents because acrobat is screwing things up for whatever reason. i want to simply change the pdf viewer to ADOBE READER. i was able to quite easily do this with FIREFOX but IE is a different story.

from what ive gathered, i should be going to Control panel/ folder options/ select pdf/ choose advanced/ choose open/ change directory to READER.exe

when i do that, click OK and close all the dialogs it switches the settings back to opening with ACROBAT.

    quite annoying.

any solutions ?How can i modify my default PDF viewer in regard to browsing internet documents? currently set to acrobat?
i'd say uninstall it and get Foxit Reader

google it, it's free and it loads quite fast because of low memory resource that it takesHow can i modify my default PDF viewer in regard to browsing internet documents? currently set to acrobat?
I would recommend changing the registry key for opening PDF files. I've had to do that several times. Click Start %26gt; Run then type in regedit and click OK. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT %26gt; AcroExch.Document.x (where x is your adobe version) %26gt; Shell. Select the (Default) value, then go to Edit %26gt; Modify and change Open to Read, then click OK.

Now do the same for the value under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE %26gt; Software %26gt; Classes %26gt; AcroExch.Document.x (again where x is your adobe version) %26gt; Shell. Change the (Default) value of Open to Read.

Now close the registry editor and restart your computer. (Must restart in order for registry changes to take effect.) You have now changed your default PDF program from Adobe Acrobat to Adobe Reader.

How do I change the root password in Linux?

I have an old Linux PC but I forgot the root password.

How do I reset the password?

I tried to go to the root directory. However, when I typed ';su';, it prompted me for the root password. Since I have forgotten it, I cannot type it in and I, therefore, cannot go to the root directory to change the password. How do I change the root password in Linux?
Boot into the system at the physical console. Go into single user mode (check the documentation for your distro).

Make your way to the command prompt. Again consult the specifics for your distro.

Once there you should be able to run ';passwd root'; or similar to reset the password.

The physical console it ultimate power.

    NOTE:

Some distros do not have a root account per se (Ubuntu comes to mind). Regular accounts are put in a super user list that are allowed to ';su'; or ';sudo';. In this case the password in question is the password of the account you are already logged in to. If you are allowed to ';go super'; you will temporarily assume ';root'; powers. How do I change the root password in Linux?
At the bootloader, boot into single user mode. You may have to pass init=/bin/bash as well as single in order to bypass the password.

    At the prompt:

    passwd
you need to log in as root to change the root password, there's no way around it.

If there were every cracker in the world would have a field day.

Your only option is to reinstall the operating system from scratch.
System, Administrator, Users and groups. Click root, then activate, then click root again, click preferences, and change the password.

Using cmd with my other hard drive?

I can't get cmd prompt to change directories to my second hard drive(D:\)

When I type ';CD D:\'; it does nothing, and if I try to run .exe files directly the cmd prompt opens and closes very fast.

How do I fix this?Using cmd with my other hard drive?
DOS or actually the lack of DOS is starting to bite people.

The CMD window is a distant relative of DOS. Therefore most DOS commands work in a CMD window. An old DOS 6.22 or 5.0 command reference is handy or you can work through the windows help system search for MS-DOS. Also simply enter ';help | more'; in a CMD window without the quotes. You can get more detailed help by adding a ';/?'; after a DOS command.

    To answer the actual question...

Open a CMD window. It will stay open until you close it.

To change drives enter %26lt;drive letter%26gt;:

    or for example:

    C:\%26gt;d:%26lt;enter%26gt;

To change directories with long file names and spaces, put quotes around the directory or path.

    How to download this compiler?

Ok so im learning C++ and bought a book called ';C++ without fear'; by brian overland. It came with this compiler and i'm trying to download it, but i'm having trouble. Ok so heres the instructions: Installing the Compiler and Development Environment

    ======================================?br>
This is a quick overview. For more complete instructions, you

may also want to review the Readme1st.dj file, which is located

on the root directory of the CD. (This is a plain text file

that can be viewed with any text editor.)

To install the compiler and development environment from within

a DOS environment or Windows MS-DOS window:

    1. From the root directory of your C drive, create a DJGPP directory:

    C:\%26gt;mkdir djgpp

    2. Change directory to djgpp.

    C:\%26gt;cd djgpp

    3. Copy the contents of the root directory of the CD. (This assumes

that your CD uses a D: drive letter; use whatever drive letter is

    appropriate.)

    C:\DJGPP%26gt;copy d:\*.*

    4. Use unzip32.exe to decompress all the binary files.

    C:\DJGPP%26gt;unzip32 *.zip

So what do I do? I am currently on the Windows XP. Help? How to download this compiler?
Did you try following the instructions? They seem pretty straight forward...

Anyway, download Code::Blocks instead. How to download this compiler?
I'd check out MinGW or Visual Studio Express.

I just bought ';C++ Without Fear, how do i install the disc that came with it?

Well quite frankly the book already sucks because it doesn't

use ';ENGLISH';(not newb friendly at all).I got stuck just installing the disc containing the ';IDE';.And the readme did not help me at all..I did everything it says although it was veryvague and got no results.I will post the readme, can someone please ';translate'; it into SIMPLE WORDS for a newb at this kinda thing.

    1. From the root directory of your C drive, create a DJGPP directory:

    C:\%26gt;mkdir djgpp

    2. Change directory to djgpp.

    C:\%26gt;cd djgpp

    3. Copy the contents of the root directory of the CD. (This assumes

that your CD uses a D: drive letter; use whatever drive letter is

    appropriate.)

    C:\DJGPP%26gt;copy d:\*.*

    4. Use unzip32.exe to decompress all the binary files.

    C:\DJGPP%26gt;unzip32 *.zip

    5. Your compiler and development environment should now be installed!

However, you still need to set environment variables, including

PATH, which makes executables available from any directory.I just bought ';C++ Without Fear, how do i install the disc that came with it?
    That is your answer.

    Bring up a DOS window.

    Type in:

    C:

cd \ and then type in exactly what it suggests from your #1 above.

You can set the path variables by changing them in the ';System'; application from the ';Control panel';.

You can bring up ';Control Panel';, by typing in ';control'; at the DOS prompt.

Then click on ';System'; which brings up a ';System Properties'; dialog. Click on the ';Advanced'; tab. Then click on the ';Environment variables'; button, and look for ';PATH'; in the ';System Variables'; section of the dialog that is displayed. Then simply double-click on the variable and you're editing it to make the changes after #5.

And no you shouldn't change ';CLASSPATH'; variable.

You can click on ';New'; button in either the ';User variables'; or the ';System variables'; section.

The environment variable name is DJGPP, and the value is the rest of the information you mentioned (which tells it where the path to the compiler is).

    Introductory Unix Globbing Help?

    Question from Homework:

How would you list all files in the elements directory that either start with the ';c'; character, or end with the ';m'; character, or both. (hint, you may need to use more than one globbing pattern on the same command line)?

I currently have ';ls c* m* c*m'; but this creates duplicates. I'm not sure if that's wrong but if there is a better way I would appreciate it.

    2nd Question:

Change directory to /usr/local/lib/glob. Look at the contents of the two directories inside of glob. Okay, I'll try to be as clear as possible.

I did c:\dir and I see QBXFER but it doesn't have it as a %26lt;DIR%26gt; like some others are listed.

When I try to run a dir on QBXFER all it says is ';1 file'; and how many bytes it has.

So my question is I want to get this file into QBXFER because the GW Basic program is looking in QBXFER for the file.

    Hi,

As 16k-zx81 has told u r just trying to get ur work done from someone else ..

But still i ***** resist myself from answering this question. Here u go:

    1) assuming u r already in %26lt;usr_root%26gt;/learning/data -

    ------ cp ../../.bash_profile .

    2) again assuming ur login directory is %26lt;usr_root%26gt;

    ------ touch ../../rev4.txt

    3) md bin

    4) ok this 1 is a bit tricky .. actually its been more than 2 yrs since i have seen a unix/linux screen itself .. but still lemme try

------ vi ../../.kshrc (or it cud b .bshrc based on the flavor of linux u r using) -%26gt; then find the PATH attribute and append this directory path there. Save and exit out of vi.

------ . ../../.bash_profile [this will force ur shell to again reset env but this time it will refer to ur modified .kshrc]

    5) I didn't exactly get ur question but still my guess for an answer is:

    ------ echo $PATH

    6) ls -lrt (for current dir)

ls -lrt ../ (for parent dir)

Wow. You better get busy if you're behind.

You're kidding with these questions, right? Someone in the first day of a Unix class could answer all of these. If you can't, you need to drop the class now.
Why are you in that class if you can't even answer these questions? I think it's time you re-evaluate your goals and direction for your education!

Good luck in dropping your class and signing up for ';basket-weaving 101';, because it's rather late in the season to drop a class, but who knows - maybe they might make an exception for you this one time.

  • How do i change my current directory to a differant directory? i have vista?

If you are talking about changing directories when using the command line, the command is 'cd'

cd .. will take you to a parent directory.

cd path_to_directory will take you where you want to go.

When typing the path it can be relative to your current directory such as

';cd ..\other_dir_in_parent_DIR'; or it can be complete like

    ';c:\dir1\dir2\dest';

To list the files and directories in your current directory, use the ';dir'; command.

If you are not talking about using the command prompt, then I am not sure what you are asking. In Windows, directories are represented by icons of folders. Double click on a folder and you will see the contents of that directory. Click on a folder in that directory, and that window will change directories to that folder's location.

In Unix, how do you change your root directory to a different drive?

run the ';df'; command to get a listing of mounted filesystems and use the ';cd'; command to get to them. For example, if another drive is mounted as /export, the ';cd'; command you run is ';cd /export.';In Unix, how do you change your root directory to a different drive?
You have to unmount the device mapped to root first - which means you need to be able to logout of all local user accounts first and basically shutdown the kernel. You need to then boot the machine from a different physical drive than the one you want to remap (a live cd/dvd would be ideal) so that none of the root filesystem is locked (part of it is always locked due to dev, proc and so on which are pseudo filesystems generated by the active kernel).

It's then a matter of creating a new root filesystem or copying the current one onto a different physical drive's filesystem and setting up the local machine to mount that device to /

The only thing you will have to take care of doing is to make sure you remount any other partitions you have to the same mount points. You'll have to update some configuration files, too but I don't know which ones you'd need for unix.

How to change location of 'My documents' to other hard drive.?

I want all of the system folder my documents to work on my second internal hard drive, how can I change the directory? How to change location of 'My documents' to other hard drive.?
    Here you go

    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_m

///How to change location of 'My documents' to other hard drive.?
READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE TO GO

You should be able to move the ';target'; of your ';My Documents'; folder on each machine. ';My Documents'; is actually a redirection that is done within the Windows Explorer shell, and is easy to reassign on the face of it. I have not tried this on a network drive, so there are no guarantees. I have successfully reassigned My Documents to what is (to me) a more accessible directory on my hard drive. Here's what you can do:

    1) Set up your network and your network drive. Make sure that it is assigned a particular letter for each machine. (Assign permanent drive letters under Control Panel --%26gt; Administrative Tools --%26gt; Computer Management --%26gt; Disk Management. This should work for network drives as well. Someone correct me if I'm wrong; again, I haven't done this before.

    2) On your computers, open Windows Explorer. From My Computer, right-click on My Documents and select properties. The first thing that pops up is a ';target folder location'; screen. Select ';move'; and pick the desired folder on your networked drive (i.e., computer 1's documents, computer 2's documents, etc.). You may have to physically copy everything over, but then it will be on the networked drive and everything should work smoothly. That is, in the future, Windows will go to the target location whenever you look in ';My Documents';

It is possible that you can even do #2 without bothering with #1. You may wish to try. If so, make sure you assign a specific name/letter to your network drive that is somewhere down the line (H or so) so that Windows won't get confused if you are using USB drives or flash cards on occasion.

    As always, back up first.
There is a another way to do this.

Download Microsoft's Tweak UI from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downl

Under My Computer -%26gt; Special Folders

And the tool can be used for changing other things too.
    Use Tweak UI
If you are trying to move the entire My Documents folder, then there is a simple and very easy way to do it.

Either on the desktop or start menu depending on how your windows is setup right click on your ';My Documents'; go to properties.. There will be a tab there that says target in that it will say ';Target Folder Location'; and list something like C:\Documents and Settings\%user-name%\My Documents under that click ';Move';, pick the location you want your My Documents to be click OK, a pop up will ask you if you want to move all of the documents from the old location to your new location. Say YES.

    Then you are done.

If you want to move any other system folder then it was be easiest to use Tweak UI but for the My Docs this way is quick and easy and it works...
well! you can ofcourse change location by modifying registry

or find software form net using google.. my create proble later on

    the ideal thing should be

    - create a folder wherever you wish

    - create shortcut on desktop and mydocument for that folder

    - it will be easily available e'time when you need.

    - same you can keep in quick launch.

so you will have your folder accessible from everywhere.

Good luck and Happy Computing! How to change windows boot directory?
u gonna have to erase the new windows and boot from the old windows you had, that wasn't very clever after all
Start-------Run-------and type : msconfig --------- now in the fourth tab called BOOT INI you can change it ;)
restart, hit the correct f key....it varies on each machine...expect it to take a while. You have to get into the net bios setting to change the boot sequence, its pretty obvious though once you are in it.

I had to replace win98 on four office machines......had to upgrade to windows xp pro....you can get the update for 199, or the complete bootable disk for 299......your problems will be solved if you completely blow out the operating system.

I then, two weeks ago had to replace the office main, wndows 2000 server......to windows xp pro....it is so much happier!
When you installed the second copy, you re-wrote the master boot record of the disk. You can't modify that. You will have to do a new install to C:\windows. Later versions of windows (2000 and XP) simply mark the MBR to point to an initialising file and this allows for modification.

How do i change the temp directory of Microsoft Access?

I have a huge 1.5 gig database file. I am trying to sort it. Every time i sort it, i get a message, that my c drive is losing space, and then access tells me that there aren't enough resources. I don't have big drives, and C is only taken up by windows and other neccessary stuff. How can i make Access use a folder, say in an external hardrive, as a temp folder? How do i change the temp directory of Microsoft Access?
    Wow. Where to even begin...

I guess there would be a lot of questions that would need to be answered before any specific advice could be given.

What version of Access are you using?

Has the Dbase been split into a front end/backend?

Are you running it off of a Network with the Server holding the Tables and the Workstations running the App?

Are you running everything off of one computer?

How much free space do you currently have on your hard drive?

Why do you want to hold it in a temp file? Would it not be easier to move the entire Dbase onto a new drive? I know you said you had no big drives, but at this point it might be easier to install a new one, be it an internal or USB. At least they're cheap these days. Heck, an 80 gig drive would be more than enough to do the job and would only run you $70 or so.

Now, when you say you are trying to ';Sort it'; do you mean that you are try to filter the data with a query? If that's the case, maybe the computer is running low on RAM trying to filter out the monster Dbase of yours. Of course, running low on RAM would force the computer to depend on virtual memory (your hard drive). If your hard drive is low on space, then you definately need a new drive. If your drive still has space on it, then I would try to increase the size of your Virtual memory.

That's just off the top of my head. If you could please post more info, I will be able to help you out a bit more (or at least try to!)

I will check back daily until the question is resolved.

    Hope this helps.

How do I change the directory in which Python Interpreter looks for a module on the 'import ' command?

Ok, so I have several version of python from 2.5 to 3, and they all attempt to look for a module upon the import command at the same place, that is my home directory. If i move the modules to say each's site-packages direction, as this is where they should belong, it says that there is no such module when I use the 'import' command.

How do I redirect where Python look for a module?

ThanksHow do I change the directory in which Python Interpreter looks for a module on the 'import ' command?
When looking for a module, Python searches the list of directories contained in the sys.path variable.

Every build of Python has a built-in list of directories that it will search when looking for a module, and that built-in list provides the initial value of sys.path. You can specify additional directories in the PYTHONPATH environment variable, and you can use command-line options to disable some parts of the search path. You can also have your program modify sys.path before it tries to import your module.

The site-packages directory should be on the built-in search path, so if you're putting If your module there and Python doesn't find it then that's pretty strange. I'd check to see that the site-packages directory really is on the built-in path, by running a two-line program that does just:

    聽聽import sys

    聽聽print sys.path

If it is, then I'd check the permissions on my module in the site-packages directory. On a Unix system if you put them there while logged in as root, it's possible that they aren't readable when you're logged in as yourself.

egrep is trying to find a ';-'; at the beginning of ';./submissions'; as input string.

    You want to have

    ls -l ./submissions | egrep -c '^-'

if you want to count the files in the directory ./submissions, then you have to tell ls to look in that directory. You've kinda mis-understood the piping syntax or what egrep does.

The command I have given does the following:

lists entries in long format for the directory ./submissions.

The output from that ls command is piped into egrep which counts the instances of lines which start with a - character.

Your version lists the files in long format for the directory . and pipes that input into egrep which counts instances of - at the start of the string ';./submissions';. In this case, egrep ignores the pipe because egrep -c '^-' ./submissions is a ';full'; command (i.e. it has input specified already). The returned count is zero because ';./submissions'; doesn't start with a - character.

    COPY *.cbl NEWDIR\*.c

Extensions will be changed in the new directory.

    hope this helps.
It's been a long time since I've used DOS but when you copy the files you should be able to supply a new name. So when you type the new name just type the same name but with .c at the end.

How to change a torrent directory while its running?

My C: part is full now. I have to change them into E:

what can I do? if I don't want to lose the downloaded parts? How to change a torrent directory while its running?
Stop trying to change it and change it.How to change a torrent directory while its running?
see you cannot change your directory if some files have being downloaded you have to make some space in C: unless all half downloaded files are completed after that u can change your directory.
make a backup of the torrent currently being downloaded in downloads folder, paste it back into downloads folder on your new harddrive,....download the torrent again and it will continue
Its impossible to change the directory of a file if it is being used. If you want to change the directory without loosing the downloaded parts, i suggest you close the torrent first and then copy the downloaded parts to the directory where you want it to bee. Then open the torrent. Change the directory in the settings to where you copied the parts.

That trick worked for me, i don't know if it will work with you too.

I am not sure what version you have but you can try going to the TOOLS menu and then choose Options. See if you have a File Locations Tab when Options opens up. If so, you will find it there. You highlight which Files type you want to change, click on Modify and choose the folder you wish to default to.

How do I change my PhpMyadmin Directory?

phpmyadmin is not in my htdocs folder, it is outside the htdocs folder so I do not know how it is accessed in the first place. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.How do I change my PhpMyadmin Directory?
I used Easy Apache. It lets me create multiple web folder and run them almost simultaneous in different IE tab.

You can put your different folders containing different web applications, assign an Alias on Easy Apache control panel and you can run it whenever you want. You can put your web folders in drive C or drive D, or even on your USB stick. It doesn't matter where it is. Just search for it on the net and download it

I also used Apache Lite- a portable run-and-forget web server. No need to install. get it here: http://itblog.tourwithher.net/ and click the download button link

How can I change the install directory of a program?

Well I recently purchased a solid state drive, and have a 1TB HDD that I use to install my programs on. However, some programs do not allow me to chose the directory. How can I move them over and keep them properly working? How can I change the install directory of a program?
    Try installing to the Desktop.

When done and tested, create a folder, like C:\Foo

    (Use Windows or DOS commands)

(Foo is an example folder name)

Then Drag %26amp; Drop the files from the Desktop to the Foo folder.

    ;-)

    Or...

(Using DOS from the Command screen)

CD \ (puts you in the main or root folder, Desktop) (don't forget the backslash)

MD Foo2 (Creates the Foo2 folder, MD, Make Directory or Folder)

Copy \Foo *.* C:\Foo2 (*.* means everything before the period and everything after the period, leave a space after the first *).

You now have copied the files in Foo to Foo2

If all OK, you can delete the files in Foo and then delete the Foo folder.

If I'm talkin' Chinese, forget it.

    Learn some DOS instead.

To learn some DOS, from the Command screen, type ';Help/?'; (no quotes).

;-)How can I change the install directory of a program?
    You can't.
If a program does not allow you to change the install directory, the you cannot change it.

By default many programs install themselves in the Windows Drive or C:\Program Files\...

So what you can do is install Windows on your new hard-disk and make the machine boot out of it. This will in turn make those program install them on it. But the flip side is that they will be deleted in case you format the disk or re-install your OS.

  • How do i change the directory of my save games?

Hi, I have a few games and i wanted to take them in to school with me but i don't want to start a whole new game. I will pick my favorite and that is ';Black%26amp;White2'; so how do i change the save game directory of B%26amp;W2. In school i cant just send the save game in the directory because we have limited rights and we cant get on documents unless I log on as admin but that takes to long so is there any way i can just change it so it can save on my flash drive or something or a place where i can get to or just change it to a custom directory ?How do i change the directory of my save games?
Let me just get this out there, black and white 2 sucks. The first game is much better. There might be something in options that could help. Normally you can find a save location when you first install the game. Another fix is to go into windows media player and browse for new music. This allows you to get into the files that are normally blocked by windows explorer.

    Like this:

    cd documents and settings

It's the 'cd' command, stands for Change Directory.

EDIT: I just tried it (on Vista) and the quotes are not necessary.

The leading backslash is necessary if you are not already in the root directory (';\';).How to change my cmd directory to documents and settings?
you'll probably want to type it as

    cd ';\documents and settings';

The backslash means that the documents and settings directory is in the root directory (which is where it is) and the quotes are needed because it has spaces in the name.
